Nigeria Military Taskforce in north-central Plateau State, code named, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), has deployed troops to secure the State during the Sallah celebration.

The OPSH has also ban tricycle in Jos the city capital, assuring Plateau residents of adequate security and protection during the Sallah celebration.

The assurance was given during a show of force campaign by the OPSH across Jos metropolis and environs.

Speaking with newsmen, the Commander of the force, Major General Augustine Agundu, said the security situation within their operational area has been assessed to be calm, and that it has been achieved as a result of the synergy between all the security agencies comprising of the various security outfits.

Represented by the Operations Officer, Colonel Emmanuel Karau, Agundu said they have been tackling several crimes within Jos metropolis and that they will sustain the tempo during and after the Sallah celebration.

He said for some weeks now they have been making security arrangements to ensure that the Sallah is peacefully celebrated because the Sallah celebration is going to be held on a Sunday when the Christian faithful will be going for church service at the same time when the Muslim faithful will be going for Sallah prayers.

The OPSH boss said he has enhanced the collaboration among all the security outfits and has also reached out to the public through the media to adhere to all the guidelines and conduct during the celebration.

Also addressing the media, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Plateau State Command, Tyopev Terna, said the security agencies are working as one family and are putting their resources together to tackle crime and criminality.

The PPRO said they have been able to reduce crime and other nefarious activities in the state to the barest minimum.

Tyopev however reassure of a hitch free celebration.
