Nigeria’s Governor Simon Lalong of north central Plateau State, has said his list of Commissioners are ready and would soon be announced to the public.
Lalong said politicians should stop sending traditional rulers and clergymen to lobby him for a slot as he will not consider anyone apart from those he has personally chosen to work with him.
The governor stated this on Monday at the swearing-in of newly appointed Secretary to the Government of the State (SGS), Professor Danladi Atu and the Chief of Staff (COS), Hon. Noel Dongjur, held at the Government House in Jos.
“Nobody should come to me for lobbying. My list of Commissioners are ready and will soon be announced. So stop sending traditional rulers and clergymen to beg for your name to be considered.
“Unlike last year, I chose people who were recommended to me, and most of them performed below expectation. This time around I took my time to choose those who will work with me and that is why it took me this long to compile the list.
“Like I have said in various fora since our re-election into office, we are in our last lap and resolved that the next four years will be devoted to consolidating on the gains we made and expanding on critical areas of development for the benefit of our people”.
Lalong however charged the newly appointed SGS and COS to give proper direction, guidance and motivation to all ministries and agencies of government for effective performance without undue rancor and distractions.
“You must lead by example and ensure that discipline is maintained and observed throughout the service”, the governor said.
