Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State in north central Nigeria, has warned the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), members to stick to the guiding rules and avoid being target of criminals who will want to take advantage of their innocence.

Lalong stated this on Monday, at the passing out parade ceremony of the 2019 Batch B Stream 2 Corps Members, held at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, in Mangu local government area of the State.

Represented by the Deputy Governor of the State, Professor Sonni Gwanle Tyoden, Lalong said: “You are cautioned to be vigilant and carry out your assignment in accordance with the laid down guidelines of the scheme so as to avoid being targets of criminally minded individuals and groups who may want to take advantage of your presence.

“Let me assure you that the State government has taken necessary steps in conjunction with the NYSC management to make your stay in the State safe, enjoyable and memorable”, Lalong said.

On her part, the Plateau State Coordinator NYSC, Mrs Caroline Embu, advised Corps members to be of good behavior to their host communities.

“As you proceed to commence the next stage of the cardinal programmes of the scheme, I admonish you to be of good behavior, live peacefully with your host communities and as much as possible, make positive impact in those communities by leaving them better than you met them.

“Inscribe your footprints in the sands of time and posterity will forever remember you for promoting unity and sustainable development”, Embu said.
