A Nigerian from the Fulani tribe extraction who is the National President of Fulani Youth Leaders in the country, Alh. Saidu Adamu has said the north can only support a northerner and a Fulani in the 2023 Presidential election.

He noted that the region is not interested in the seat of the Vice President and that anybody from the north who is interested in becoming the VP is not representing the northern agenda.

Adamu disclosed this on Wednesday during a press briefing in Jos the city capital of Plateau State in north central part of the country.

He said the nations President, Muhammadu Buhari has performed credibly well in the past five years by citing most projects in Southern Nigeria as mark of compensation.

He noted that the North has produced Presidents that have the interest of the country, starting from the administration of late Shehu Shagari, late Umaru Musa Yar’dua and President Muhammadu Buhari.

“We are fully in support of the Northern Presidency in 2023 after President Muhammadu Buhari complete his tenure. This is because the north has always work in the interest and unity of the entire country unlike former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan who divided the country.

“I wish to state clearly that the North is not looking for Vice President because we want to sustain the developmental strides of President Buhari, we don’t want anybody from any region that will take us back to dark days, that is why we have left the position of the Vice President to the people in the South.

“Any person who is looking for Vice President from the north is not a true northerner; and we advise such person to refrain from doing so.

Alh. Ahmadu explained that Buhari has succeeded in tackling corruption, fight against insecurity and revamping the turbulent economy of the country for the prosperity of the people.

He said if not that Buhari is working in the interest and unity of Nigeria, he wouldn’t have given the former governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola three strong Ministries during his first tenure and coupled with the projects he has cited in the South-South, South-East and South-West.

Ahmadu said that Fulani has no regret in voting Buhari in 2015 and 2019.
