Contribute to nation building Nigeria's Gov. Lalong to NYSC combats

NIGERIA

Nigeria’s Governor Simon Lalong in north central Plateau State has charged the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), members to take advantage of their service year to contribute their quota in building the nation.

The Governor stated this on Monday during the Closing Passing-Out Parade of the 2019 Batch ‘C’ stream ‘1’ corps members deployed to the State.

He said, “It is a great opportunity for you to have been mobilized to serve here in Plateau State. Enjoy the tourist haven and seek new avenues of contributing your quota to nation building”.

Represented by the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Hon. Victor Lapang, Lalong also assured corps members of their safety throughout their service year.

“You are once again assured of a peaceful, secured and an enabling environment to successfully complete your national assignment as government in conjunction with the security agents have taken necessary measures to ensure your safety and general well-being”, he said.

Earlier, the State Coordinator, NYSC Plateau State, Mrs. Caroline Embu, encouraged the corps members to be law abiding and respect the norms and values of their host communities.

“I therefore encourage you to integrate into your host communities with unity of purpose and resolve to build a strong indivisible entity and thereby imprint your foot prints in the sands of time.

“Do not get involved in the local politics of your host communities or be partisan in national politics but rather, be in all cases and instances be seen as instrument of unity.

“The NYSC is an institution that rewards hard-work and diligent service. In the same vein, it also punishes defaulters of the Bye Laws accordingly”, Embu said.
