Two women have been killed in West Sussex – as a man was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Emergency services were called to a house in Hazel Way, Crawley Down, at 10.18am and found the two women outside and a man seriously injured inside.

Sussex Police said it was an isolated incident in the village with no further risk to the public.

The badly hurt man was taken by ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

Photos from the scene showed a large police presence and a white sheet in Hazel Way covering what appeared to be a body.

There was also a pair of what seemed like forensic tents in the road.

Responding to reports suggesting the attack was a stabbing, Detective Chief Inspector Alex Geldart, of the Sussex and Surrey major crime team, said: “I wish to make it absolutely clear that this is not a knife crime.”
