I will get justice for my slain people – Nigeria’s Plateau lawmaker

A Nigerian federal lawmaker representing locals at Mangu/Bokkos Constituency of Plateau State in north central part of the country, has said he will pursue justice for his people who were killed in the early hours of Thursday night by suspected herdsmen.

The lawmaker, Solomon Maren occupying a seat at the nation’s National Assembly, said the death of 12 natives from Kulben village in Kombun community in his constituent, will be treated as a matter of urgent importance.

The attack which came barely 24hrs after securities foiled a similar attack believed to be armed banditry in same constituency on Wednesday, is “evil, barbaric and ungodly,” said the Rep Member in a swift reaction.

“My heart is torn to shreds and I feel the pain of these poor families. We will do everything humanly possible to ensure that any person or group of people found culpable in this attack is decisively dealt with. They will not be allowed to go unpunished. They shall face the full wrath of the law,” Maren said.

Also, A Brother Senator, Istifanus Gyang, Sends Condolence

Similarly a Senator representing northern Plateau, Hon. Istifanus Gyang, said the death of the 12 persons is an act of wickedness calling on citizens to condemn the menace.

Gyang described the act as terrorism praying that the incidence should not take the State back to the dark days of incessant killings.

He said: “No! Not again on the Plateau! We should all in one voice condemn and denounce this wickedness.

“I call on security agencies to swiftly apprehend the perpetrator and bring them to justice and to take all appropriate steps to secure law abiding citizens.

“He appealed to all well-meaning citizens not to concede to the obvious provocation of this dastardly act to lose faith in the peace process nor resort to violent reprisals in Plateau State”, he said.
