NIGERIA

Military taskforce code named Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) in north central Nigeria’s Plateau State on Friday rearrests one of the six escaped prisoners who broke out from a High Court situated at the Barkin-ladi LGA of the State.

Troops of the task-force intercepted the inmate, identified as Mallam Mohammed Ibrahim, following a manhunt operation.

Commander of the Force, Maj. Gen. Chukwuemeka Okonkwo, however said in a statement that the rearrested criminal has since been handed over to the Nigerian Correctional Service Plateau State Command.

Okonkwo said efforts are ongoing to rearrests the remaining five.

He said anyone with useful information on any of the escaped inmates should please contact the nearest OPSH location or the Nigerian Police.
