COVID-19 is not a death sentence – Nigeria’s Gov. Lalong

NIGERIA

Having contacted the virus and undergone treatment myself, I wish to reiterate that COVID-19 is not a death sentence, says Nigeria’s Governor Simon Lalong, after his negative status result was communicated to him.

The Governor who received the result of his negative status on Wednesday night said however, early detection helps to address it and reduce the chances of death.

Lalong who spoke to our correspondent through his Director of Press, Dr. Makut Macham, said he has been in isolation since 17th December 2020.

According to the statement, “One week after Governor Lalong tested positive to Coronavirus, the Governor is now free of the disease after his latest test returned negative.

“I appreciate God for healing me of the virus and also thanked the people of Plateau State, my friends and associates all over the country for praying for me.

“I call on citizens to take the pandemic very seriously by observing all protocols for prevention of infection and transmission.

“We should not stigmatize against anyone who tests positive or is suspected of having the disease. Rather, such people should serve as motivation for others to voluntarily test in order to improve the safety of all”, Lalong said.
