NDA trains cadets to tackle current security challenges

Nigeria
The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), has trained cadets of the 72 regular Course and Short Service Course 48, on basic techniques to face the current security challenges bedeviling the country.
The NDA said the training became imperative as the cadets who will be graduating in September will face individuals who are tailored to commit heinous crimes in the society.
Terrorists and bandits making the country ungovernable are currently facing a push back by the Nigerian Military and the graduating cadets will also join the campaign in restoring normalcy to the country, our correspondent reports.

Speaking on Saturday at the Citizenship and Leadership Training Center, Shere Hills Lamingo Jos, the NDA Commandant, Major General Abdul Khalifah Ibrahim, said the training is designed to test the cadets on leadership skills, physical fitness, command and control abilities, among other military competencies, adding that he was satisfied with the level of training given to the cadets as well as their level of adaptability.
“The objectives of the training and facilities on ground matches the curriculum built over the years to prepare the cadets for future combat alert”, he said.
According to him: “This is the final practical outdoor exercise for the graduating cadets, so what we witnessed here today, is the adventure face.

“Over the years we have been coming here, we found the type of training and the package obtained here to be in sync with the objectives of some of our training and that is why we are always here.
“The training in the Camp Highland and that of the academy, improves their stamina, their endurance, their resilience, their ability to confront challenges and overcome them.
“The package in Camp Highland captures all the endurance training both in the land and water to address the kind of challenges they will face when they are commissioned in September.
“With this training, they will come out tops”, he said.

Responding in an interview, Cadets, Batal Mathew Mark, Abdulnasir Ismail Shauibu and Omolola Ruth Olawale, said they were enlisted into the Nigerian Defence Academy as civilians but are now fully ready and equipped to defend their fatherland.
The academy however, said the outdoor exercise began July 28 and will end August 17, 2025.
