Nigeria’s Benue LGA Body pays condolance to ruling party chair

Nigeria’s Benue north Association of Local Government Chairmen (ALGON), led by Hon. Maurice Orwough, Chairman of Guma Local Government Area of the State, visited the family of Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, National Chairman of the county’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), to express their condolences following the death of his mother, Mama Lydia Yilwatda.

The delegation arrived Thursday night at the family residence in Rayfield, Jos, Plateau State, where they were warmly received by Mr. Lapshak Yilwatda, the APC Chairman’s younger brother. Hon. Orwough conveyed heartfelt sympathies on behalf of the Benue ALGON and prayed for the peaceful rest of the late matriarch’s soul.

During the visit, Hon. Orwough hammered on the importance of community and faith in times of loss, praying that God grants the family strength and comfort as they navigate this difficult period. The message resonated deeply, reflecting the close bonds between the Benue local government leaders and the APC national leadership.

Demonstrating further unity, Hon. Orwough and several other council chairmen accompanied a delegation from the Benue State Government on a follow-up condolence visit to the Yilwatda family the next morning. This collective gesture highlights the strong ties across political and regional lines during moments of personal grief.

The visits underscore a shared sense of respect and compassion, exemplifying the human side of political relationships and the importance of community support in times of sorrow. The coming together of leaders from Benue State to honor Mama Lydia Yilwatda’s memory is a testament to the enduring values of empathy and solidarity.

As the Yilwatda family mourns their loss, the comforting presence of friends and political colleagues offers a reminder that grief, though deeply personal, can be softened through the support of a caring community. The Benue ALGON’s actions in this time of mourning stand as a meaningful gesture of condolence and hope.
