EU gets blessings from Nigeria’s Benue’s Gov Alia

Nigeria’s Benue State Governor, His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia has expressed deep appreciation to the European Union, EU for its sustained support in addressing humanitarian and development challenges in the State. 

In a recent meeting in Abuja, Nigeria’s the capital with EU Ambassador Gautier Mignot, Governor Alia highlighted key collaborative efforts such as the Sustainable Integrated Development for Peace in Nigeria (SIDPIN) program and the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) interventions, which have provided assistance to displaced and vulnerable populations in the region.

The Governor also commended UNICEF’s role in advancing social protection initiatives that improve education, child safeguarding, and nutrition for Benue’s most disadvantaged families. Emphasizing Benue’s vast economic potential rooted in agriculture, mineral resources, and expanding digital infrastructure, Governor Alia called for deeper EU partnerships to drive investment, economic diversification, and job creation.

Inviting Ambassador Mignot to visit Benue, Governor Alia reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive growth and collaborative governance, aiming to position the state as a model of resilience and sustainable progress under his leadership.
