Nigeria’s Presidential election slated for 16th of February 2019, will put an end to the governor race in northcentral Plateau state, say the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
One of the major defectors from the opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), to the ruling APC, Chris Alex Giwa stated this on Wednesday during a press briefing held at the party’s campaign office to announce the coming of the President’s campaign train to Jos the state capital, bided for Saturday 19th January.
“We will end the PDP in Plateau on 16th February 2019, after re-electing President Muhammadu Buhari as president. The governorship election slated for 2nd March 2019, will be a walk over”, Giwa said.
However, the press briefing chaired by the state Deputy Governor, Sonni Gwanle Tyoden, assured the public of adequate security during the President’s visit.
Tyoden said Plateau will vote massively for Buhari, adding that preparations are in top gear to ensure a resounding victory.
“Let me restate the commitment of our Governor Simon Lalong, who doubles as the gubernatorial candidate of the party as well as the coordinator of the Presidential Campaign Organisation in Plateau to assure you all that we are in high spirits and ready to receive our Presidential flag bearer on Saturday”, Tyoden said.
