Nigerian Military holds competition tasks personnel to be battle ready

NIGERIA

Nigerian Army on Tuesday in northeastern Bauchi state at the 33 Artillery Brigade, holds competition for junior officers, aimed at boosting their fitness to be battle ready at all times.

The exercise tagged “2019 Division Inter Brigade Corporal and Bellow Competition”, is also organised to improve personnel physical fitness, strengthen professionalism as well as develop comradeship.

Speaking at the opening ceremony the General Officer Commanding 3 Division Maj. Gen Nuhu Angbazo hinted that the competition is in line with the Chief of Army Staff’s vision to have a professionally responsive Nigerian Army in the discharge of its constitutional roles.

In a statement signed by the spokesperson for 3 Division Nigerian Army, Ikechukwu Eze and a copy sent to Sky News Africa, Gen. Angbazo charged the competitors to prepare themselves to be challenged, inspired and exhibit the spirit of sportsmanship, so as to attain the highest standard of professionalism.

According to the statement the exercise will feature events such as Drill, Swimming, Updating of Map, Day Compass Match, Stripping/Assembling, Shooting, Falling Plates and 3.2km Run and Obstacle Crossing.

The opening ceremony was however witnessed by Commanders, Principal Staff Officers of Headquarters 3 Division, Heads of Security Agencies and representatives of Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association, the statement reads.
