Nigeria's Plateau LG Chair frowns at interim order against his victory

NIGERIA

Nigeria’s Plateau youths in north central part of the country, under the aegis of Tarok Concern Youths has called on Governor of the State, Simon Lalong, to obey the court order that upheld the victory of Ubandoma Joshua Laven as the duly elected chairman of Langtang North Local Government Council.

It would be recalled that Mr. Laven took the ruling APC to the local government elections tribunal, challenging the victory of the APC and its candidate at the 2018 LG polls, Mr. Nanlok Amos Kparnim.

Laven consequently got victory at the Appeal Court Tribunal but have refused to be sworn in as chairman by Governor Lalong.

However the group in a briefing with journalists on Wednesday appealed to Lalong to prevail on Hon. Nanlok Amos Kparnim and the APC to accept the decision of the Plateau State Election Petition Appeal Tribunal which is the final adjudicating body or apex court regarding local government elections.

They stated that the judgement delivered on 19th July 2019, declared and returned Ubandoma Joshua Laven as the duly elected chairman of Langtang North local government council.

The group salute the good people of Langtang North local government council for maintaining law and order and not taking the law into their hands.
