Nigeria’s electricity coy makes changes in leadership

Nigeria’s Electricity Power company with the prefix JEDC, makes new appointment, says the Head Corporate Communications, Dr. Friday Elijah.

In order to reposition the company for efficient service delivery, the management of Jos Electricity Distribution Plc has elevated some managers to man some departments considered to be very critical to the operations of the organisation.

A press release signed and circulated by the company’s Head, Corporate Communications, Dr. Friday Adakole Elijah, disclosed the names and status of those appointed as follows: Mohammed Tetengi Elomi, Engineer John O. Emeruwa, Mr. Raji Murtala Abdulrahman and Engineer Mansir Salihu Nakande.

Mohammed Tetengi Elomi who was until his elevation to the position of Acting Chief Financial Officer of the company was the Head, Account operations. Elomi is a top performing Chartered Certified Accountant with extensive experience credited with expertise in all facets of Accounting, Financial Management, Auditing/Internal control and compliance analysis and investigation; Project/Programme budgeting and budget monitoring report, Project/Programme funding grid for project with multiple funding amongst others.

His areas of expertise are – Assets / Inventory management, Business and operations Analysis, Compliance monitoring and Reporting, Competitive Intelligence, Financial Management, Financial Modeling, Project Feasibility Study, Project Financial Health Check, Strategic Planning/ Analysis, Risk Management, Internal Control Optimization, Budget and Budgeting Analysis, Tax Planning and Tax Returns, Financial Reporting, Budget Monitoring Report etc.

The Chief Financial Officer, who is a Member, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) London, holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) Public Policy and Management, University of London. He is currently pursuing another Master of Science in Finance and Accounting at the famous Robert Gordon University haven earlier on obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University. He also holds another Bachelor of Science (B.SC.) in Public Administration, University of Abuja in addition to Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business, ACCA, London.

Elomi in the course of his career had attended numerous Training Conferences both in Nigeria and abroad. He is married with children.

In the same vein, Engineer John O. Emeruwa, has been promoted from Deputy Chief Technical Officer to Chief Technical Officer.  Emeruwa who graduated with Second Class Upper Division in Electrical Engineering from University of Nigeria, Nsukka, is a certified Engineer by the Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). He is also a member of various Engineering professional bodies in Nigeria. Notable among them are, Nigerian Society of Engineers (MNSE) and Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (MNIEE).

Emeruwa is also a current Member of NERC Distribution Code Review Panel.

He has held the positions of Head Technical Operations and Head Network Engineer of Jos Disco and also served as Business Managers at Makurdi, Jos, Bukuru, Gboko and Gombe.

Engr Emeruwa is an experienced Distribution Systems protections and maintenance Engineer and has worked at various locations across the country such Lagos, Benin, Makurdi, Portharcourt, Afam, Aba, Makurdi, Gombe, Gboko etc.

Emeruwa is endowed with enormous experience that transcends the entire gamut of the energy sector. He had attended several courses both in Nigeria and foreign countries among which were;

Customer service, Business and Technical Investment, Aydem Electric, Denizilin, Turkey, Theory and Applications of Incentive Regulations by United Kingdom Consultants, Prepayment Metering Programme in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, Executive Management Development Course, South Africa, Medium Voltage and System and system Protections by Siemens, Frankfurt and Erlangen, Germany amongst many others.

He is happily married with children and enjoys Swimming, Dancing and Football at his leisure time.

Similarly, the management also approved the appointment of Mr. Raji Murtala Abdulrahman as the Acting Head, Operation Support of the company. Raji holds a Master of Science degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from the University of Central Lancanshire, United Kingdom in 2012. Before then, he had a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Economics from Federal University of Technology, Yola, Adamawa State.

He joined the services of Jos Electricity Distribution Plc in 2014 as an Assistant Manager, Procurement. Before migrating to JED Plc, Raji had worked in several places. He had during his National Youth service Corps (NYSC) taught Economics at GovernmentSecondary School, Gabasawa, Kano State between 2006 and 2007.

In 2008, he secured an employment with ARDO PLASTIC COMPANY, KADUNA and worked as an administrative officer saddled with the responsibility of junior staff recruitment, management of staff files, procurement of materials and consumables, provision of secretarial services during Board meetings and sales and marketing of the company’s products.

Again, Raji, who believed in the concept of labour mobility proceeded and secure job with Defence Industry Corporation of Nigeria (DICON), Kaduna as a Planning Officer. As a Planning Officer, he was saddled with the task of periodically estimating cost materials for the production of Arms and ammunitions, civilian products, material planning, liaising with the Marketing unit to satisfy customer’s orders as well as other duties that were assigned to him by his supervisors.

Upon assumption of duty in Jos Electricity Distribution Plc, Raji as a workaholic officer sprang into action by bringing some innovations that were beneficial to the operation of the company which culminated into his elevation to the enviable status of the headship of Procurement Department. Raji no doubt combined knowledge, experience with hard work.

Like the golden fish that has no hiding place, Raji, once again was catapulted to head the Operation Support of the company in addition to his former status.

The technocrat who is married with children has as his hobbies Football, Tennis and Badminton.

Likewise, Engr. Mansir Salihu Nakande who was the Regional Manager of Jos Metro has equally been elevated to the position of Chief Commercial Officer. Nakande who has successfully built a solid career in Engineering holds an OND in Electrical Power from the Kaduna Polytechnic and fortified it with a HND in Physics & Electronicsfrom the Nigerian Institute of Science and Technology at the prestigious University of Jos- Jos, Plateau State.

Nakande has brought huge levels of business successes while at JED PLC, with the influence of his personality especially in his domain as a Regional Manager. He has built an impressive career spanning up to 13years with key and practical work know-how as Technical Engineer, Protection, Control and Metering Engineer with PHCN and Business Manager, Head Planning and Network Expansion and Regional Manager with JED PLC.

He is happily married with children, grandchildren and have a high level of involvement in community services which led to his strategic elevation to the positions of MAI-DAKALIN JOS (Jos Hausa Native Community Leader), Wazirin Al’ Ummar Garin Jos and several others.

It is believed therefore that it is certainly his willingness to volunteer his time and effort, the opinions he has expressed and above all his great stride in managing of distribution and sales of electrical energy at retail, high Commercial and Industrial Levels and several other attributes which has contributed to the success of the business that has contributed to his selection as the CHIEF COMMERCIAL OFFICER at JED PLC.
