A group known as LEAH Sharibu Foundation, has appealed to Remi Tinubu, the wife of Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, to use her position as the first lady of the country to speak to the President for the release of Leah Sharibu who was abducted by the country’s deadliest sect, Boko Haram over six years ago.

The Foundation said Sharibu, a Government Girls Science and Technical School in Dapchi, Yobe State, North Eastern Nigeria who was kidnapped on February 19, 2018 will be 20 years old this year.

Speaking to newsmen in Jos on Monday, President of the Foundation, Dr. Gloria Samdi Puldu, said the coming on board of Remi Tinubu as the first lady of Nigeria gives hope to the struggle of the release of Sharibu given her background as a Christian married to a Muslim.

Puldu said the combination of Tinubu and his wife speaks volume to how Nigerians should tolerate each other from the religious point of view.

According to her: “Now that we have a new administration we do want to speak directly to the first lady of Nigeria (Remi Tinubu). Your house is an example of how a Christian and a Muslim home should be. Your husband is a Muslim and you a Christian.

“We want you to use your position as a first lady and a mother to appeal to the President for the release of Leah and that is the gift you can give to the Christian community.

“As of today, there is no single government official that has reached out to Leah’s family to empathize with them. I want to tell Nigerians that Leah represents any one that his relative has been kidnapped in this country”, Puldu said.

On her part, the Executive Director, Total Stage 2 Screen Media For Impact, Mrs Alice Loka-Fashakin said every life matters, adding that everything must be done to bring Sharibu back.

“I would like to say that the life of every Nigerian must matter, if we don’t see our daughter back, then we will not rest. Leah is 20 already, and this says a lot about our future.
