Nigeria’s Benue north Launches Digital Empowerment, Graduates Bootcamp

Nigeria’s Benue north Digital Infrastructure Company (BDIC) has achieved a historic milestone by graduating the inaugural cohort of its Summer Tech Bootcamp, inaugurating a cadre of Digital Ambassadors, and unveiling the transformative “One Student, One Computer, One Skill+” initiative portal.

Held in Makurdi the Benue State capital, the landmark event was honored by the presence of Benue State’s Executive Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, represented by Deputy Governor Barr. Sam Ode, mni.

In his welcome address, Finbar G. Ngufan, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Communication & Digital Economy, praised BDIC’s forward-thinking vision, applauding Benue for boldly equipping its youth with the critical digital skills essential for 21st-century success.

Key dignitaries included representatives from NITDA, Galaxy Backbone, Benue Public Service Institute, SUBEB, NUJ, Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, and others—underscoring the collaborative spirit driving this digital revolution.

Hon. Terwase Gbande, MD/CEO of BDIC, reiterated the company’s dedication to digital transformation, emphasizing the integration of soft, hard, and knowledge infrastructures to empower Benue’s citizens.

Bootcamp graduates specializing in web development and cybersecurity shared inspiring stories of personal growth and committed to ongoing digital advancement.

Recognizing the bold leadership of Governor Alia—named Digital Governor of the Year in 2024—the Deputy Governor conferred the prestigious titles of Digital Benue Child and Digital Benue Youth, and officially launched the “One Student, One Computer, One Skill+” platform, positioning Benue as a model of innovation and youth empowerment in Nigeria.

With over 360 participants and strong support from parents and partners, this landmark achievement signals only the beginning. BDIC aims to expand the Summer Tech Bootcamp to all 23 local government areas, propelling Benue State toward a future defined by creativity, innovation, and global competitiveness.
