Nigeria’s ex President Jonathan,to attend Sahel Governance Forum in Gambia

Ahead of the inaugural Sahel Governance Forum scheduled for July 30-31, 2025, political leaders, including former Nigerian President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, policymakers, civil society representatives, and development partners from across Africa and the globe have arrived in Banjul.

The two-day conference, themed “The Future of Governance: (Re)building Social Cohesion and Public Trust,” is convened by the Government of The Gambia in partnership with the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation (GJF) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

As the forum opens on Wednesday, participants will engage in discussions aimed at strengthening citizen trust, advancing political transitions, and enhancing governance throughout the Sahel region.

Former Nigerian President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, co-founder of the GJF, who arrived in Banjul this evening, expressed his hopes for productive deliberations to pave the way for improved governance in the Sahel.

The event marks a significant step towards fostering collaboration among key stakeholders committed to addressing governance challenges in this strategically important region of Africa.
