Nigeria’s Bauchi north records 78 murder cases in 5 months – Police

Nigeria’s northeast Bauchi state police command, has disclosed that 78 culpable homicide cases were recorded in the state from March 2025 to date.

The state commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu who stated this during a press briefing in his office on Thursday, explained that, in the 78 reported cases, 171 suspects were apprehended by detectives.

The CP further disclosed that 14 cases of attempted culpable homicides were also recorded, leading to the apprehension of 24 suspects.

He stated that the command also arrested 16 suspects in 7 grievous hurt cases, while 44 rape and indecent cases resulted to the arrest of 72 suspects.

The police commissioner revealed that during the period of his duty in Bauchi since 28th March, 2025 to date, a total number of 394 criminal cases were recorded in Bauchi, resulting to the arrest of 748 suspects.

He said that the command has recorded tremendous successes in crime control in Bauchi state since his assumption of duty as the 46th Commissioner of Police in Bauchi.

The CP said, under him, the Command has remained steadfast in addressing crime and criminality within the state, through professionalism, and strong emphasis on effective intelligence gathering.

According to him, considerable challenges were faced but the tenacity, dedication, and commitment of his officers have been instrumental in sustaining a relative peace within the State.

The CP who attributed the successes to guidance and directives of IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, said the cases and arrests recorded were linked to various criminal activities within and beyond Bauchi State.
