We will welcome Tinubu’s return to commission projects in Nigeria’s Plateau – Group

A group, under the aegis of Speaking on the Plateau Youths For Progressive Change (PYPC), has said that they will welcome a planned visit by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to commission legacy projects executed by Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

Mutfwang had hinted at a second visit by the president after attending the burial of the mother of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC, Nentawe Yilwatda.

The group said that the “New Plateau” as transformed by Governor Mutfwang, will put to rest speculations on the utilisation of funds from the subsidy removal sent to the State by the Federal Government.

Chairman of the group, Comrade Ezra Yakubu, while speaking to our correspondent, said that Plateau has witnessed impressive transformation, especially with urban renewal projects and the transportation system, City Metro Buses, seen all over the State, which were proceeds from the subsidy removal funds.

Yakubu quoted Mutfwang as saying, “Mr President we will invite you specially for the commissioning of numerous projects in the State. We have put to good use the subsidy removal funds as received from the federal government”, the Governor had said.

The group said that Mutfwang’s transformed Plateau has continued to witness an upsurge of people coming into the state, saying that Jos has become a transit city.

“Hotels in Jos are being overbooked to the point that there are no spaces these days. This and many more the President will witness when he returns for a proper state visit”, Yakubu said.

He lauded Mutfwang for not allowing insecurity to define the State, adding that the setting up of the 10 man committee on fact finding, headed by Major-General Nicholas Rogers has in no small measure restored peace in the once crisis ridden State.

He continued: When President Tinubu visits he will notice that Governor Mutfwang did not go to sleep when elected Governor.

“Step by step, reform by reform, project by project, the Governor has put  Plateau State on the path of recovery and renewal.”

“In just two years, the results are evident. Salaries that once came late now arrive promptly. Infrastructure once abandoned is now revived. Roads constructed and still on going, schools rehabilitated, hospitals upgraded, and clean water supplied to communities.

“Even in the face of adversity, such as the tragic attacks on communities in Bokkos and Bassa, Mutfwang remained unshaken in his commitment to rebuilding the Plateau and restoring dignity to the people”, the group said.

The group praised Mutfwang for not playing politics with the earlier visit of the President during Yilwatda’s mother’s burial, saying that against the expectations of political factions, the Governor honored the APC National Chairman’s mother with a State burial.
