Defection, no big deal - Nigeria's opposition party chides ruling party

….Says crowed rented from neighbouring states

Nigeria’s opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has said the much talk about defection by the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), on some of its members who defected to the APC, is nothing but four ineffective members who do not have impetus in the party.

The PDP has also alleged that the ruling APC in its just concluded campaign flag-off held recently actually rented crowed from neighboring states to fill up the stadium.

This party wars is however between the APC and PDP in the northcentral part of Nigeria, Plateau State.

The communication was contained in a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretariat of the PDP, John Akans and a copy made available to our correspondent said, the ruling party should refrain from deceiving the Plateau citizens.

Hear him:

“It has come to our attention that contrary to the much anticipated ‘harvest’ of decampees as captured in a press briefing by Governor Simon Lalong and the APC in Plateau State, at the Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos, on Friday, January 4, 2019 received only Amb Chris Giwa; Hon. Simon Ngwan, former Chairman of Kanke LGC (1999-2003); and Alh. Abubakar Dashe, a former commissioner in the former governor Jonah Jang Administration who has been a member of the APC since 2016.

“While the return of Amb Chris Giwa and Hon. Simon Ngwan to the APC did not come to us as a surprise, we find it funny the mentioning of Alh. Abubakar Dashe as one of the decampees from the PDP.

“It is on record that Abubakar Dashe has been in the ruling APC since 2016.

“While we wish both Amb. Chris Giwa and Hon. Ngwan the best of luck in there, once again, new home, we however wish to caution against deliberate attempts to misinform the Plateau public in a desperate move to curry support ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

“It is sad to note that in further display of their desperation to impress a scanty followership in Plateau State, they went out to neighbouring Bauchi and Gombe States to rent crowds for the purpose of their abysmal outing today.

“Finally, we assure party faithful and supporters across the state that the leadership is doing everything humanly possible to ensure peaceful electioneering in the days and weeks ahead. While urging you to eschew violent conduct, request that you continue to remain calm and stay committed towards ensuring that Governor Lalong and this ruling APC are voted out of power at all levels in the elections around the corner”, the statement read.
